Also known as Benne seeds. The plant is probably African in origin, now grown in Middle/ Far East & Mexico. Regarded in the East as a symbol of immortality, seeds are used in sweet or savoury food & baking. Commonly processed into a fine oil, gomasio and tahini & used in confectionary - e.g. halva.
