Native to the Mediterranean, these are the edible seeds of a number of pines, mainly the stone pine. Growing unshelled the tiny creamy-yellow kernels have a rich, slightly turpentine flavour. Eaten raw or used in soups, sauces, salads, rice dishes, stuffing etc. A primary ingredient of Pesto sauce.
