Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a herbaceous perennial which grows up to a meter tall. Ginger originated in Maritime South-east Asia and was already widely used throughout the pacific region over 5000 years ago.
Ground ginger can be added to soups, salad dressings, stir-fries, cakes, jams, puddings, chutneys, pickles and is a key ingredient in many Asian dishes.
